An apprentice at 360 Chartered Accountants has been recognised as one of the best and brightest the education sector has to offer.
Sam Gibson, 23, from Goole, won the Apprentice/Placement of the Year category in this year’s Golden Apple Education Awards in Hull in recognition of his “attitude, commitment and work ethic.”
The front of house manager and business administration apprentice said:
“I can’t believe it. I am really overwhelmed. I love my job. Everyone at 360 has made me feel so welcome since I joined earlier this year. I get up every morning, looking forward to going to work. I don’t think I do anything special. This is just me. I want to do the best I can and look after our clients to the best of my ability. And so far, so good!”
Andy Steele, Founder and Director of 360 said:,
“We are thrilled that Sam has won this award because he really deserves this honour. When we first met Sam we knew there was something special about him. He originally came to us for a couple of weeks work experience, but during that time we had so many emails and calls telling us how friendly, polite and helpful he was, we decided to offer him a full-time position.”
The Golden Apple awards, hosted by the Hull Daily Mail in partnership with Sewell Facilities Management, were held at the Royal Hotel, Ferensway, Hull and were presented by BBC weather presenter Keeley Donovan.
Sam’s category was sponsored by East Riding College. The judges said:
“Sam had the company’s clients emailing management to compliment him on how professional they thought he was. We thought that was exceptionally telling for someone of his age. Also the fact that the company created a full-time job for him so they could keep him on really shows he was the true winner in this category.”
360 already runs an extremely successful apprenticeship programme training the next generation of accountants. All have so far been promoted internally. However, with the rapid growth of the company, they now also have two business administration apprentices, working alongside Business Development Manager Claire Jacques and Administration Co-ordinator Leanne Steele.
360 recently opened its 3rd office at Craven Park, the home of Hull Kingston Rovers. Just last year it opened its new headquarters in Hull City Centre, with its office in Melton looking after clients to the west of Hull.
